Microblading: What Is It and What to Expect?

Laguna Med Spa

Semi-Permanent

Semi-permanent microblading is a procedure that adds definition and texture to your eyebrows. It also gives your brows a natural, full-looking look. This type of cosmetic tattooing uses a handheld device to deposit colored ink into the skin’s dermis.

The process is comfortable. Your artist will administer topical numbing cream for 30 minutes before the tattooing begins. At least four weeks later, you will return for a follow-up treatment.

Your MicroArt artist will work with you to determine the perfect brow shape and color. They will use calipers to ensure that the measurements are precise.

A great microblading technician from Laguna Med Spa can create the appearance of naturally full brows on any skin tone. Their expertise can also be applied to your lips.

The process takes about an hour. However, you must schedule your appointment at least a month in advance. Some people must wait as long as four months for the result to completely heal.

Painful

Several steps can be taken to lessen pain after microblading. You can also speak to the artist before you undergo the procedure about numbing cream.

Most practitioners will use a topical anesthetic to numb the area before the procedure. This is commonly a 5% to 10% lidocaine cream. Although it’s often effective, there may be more comfortable options.

In addition to numbing the area, the artist will provide you with some aftercare advice. These can be as simple as avoiding the sun or applying vitamin A & D ointment before you shower.

After microblading, the skin will be tender and red. Your eyebrows may look darker for a few days but eventually return to normal. You must see your doctor if you notice any swelling, bruising or blisters. The numbing cream will usually do the trick, but the discomfort will continue for a few days.

Scabs

Microblading is not an instant process. It may take days to complete, and the procedure has several stages. The best way to prepare is to understand what to expect. A scab is a natural part of the process.

You can expect to see scabbing a few days after the treatment. Some patients can experience intense scabbing. This can be a result of infection. If your scabbing is inflamed, you should treat it immediately.

The most common type of scabbing is dry. A good ointment can speed up healing and prevent picking at the scabs. Applying a moist compress can also help.

The most effective method of preventing scabbing is following your microblading artist’s instructions. For example, you should apply a numbing cream 30 to 45 minutes before the treatment. It would be best if you avoid hot showers, saunas, and steamy baths during the treatment. Excessive moisture can open pores and lead to microbial infections.

Aftercare

If you have decided to have microblading done, you will want to know how to care for your eyebrows after the procedure. Keeping the area clean and moisturized can help you heal faster and ensure that your new eyebrows look great.

To start, you should wash the area with sterilized water. This will remove the excess dye. After the brows are cleaned, you should apply an aftercare ointment. The ointment may contain panthenol, virgin olive oil, cocoa butter, or other ingredients.

You should also avoid putting makeup on the microbladed area. Makeup removal products may contact the treated skin, causing irritation and scarring.

You should wear no makeup during the first three days after the microblading. Use a makeup removal product free of acids and exfoliants if you need makeup.

You should not expose your eyebrows to the sun during the next four weeks. Excessive sun exposure can cause a fungal infection.
